About

Alvin V. Blount Jr. was a pioneering surgeon and North Carolina A&T alumnus who helped desegregate hospital care in Greensboro. He was a plaintiff in the Simkins v. Moses H. Cone case that opened public hospitals to Black physicians and patients.

Accomplishments

Among the physicians in Simkins v. Cone, a landmark hospital-desegregation case.
Practiced surgery in Greensboro for decades after military service.
Inducted into the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame in 2021.
