The Honorable Joseph W. Hatchett

Joseph W. Hatchett, a Florida A&M University graduate, was the first African American elected to the Florida Supreme Court and later the first Black judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth (then Eleventh) Circuit.

First African American elected to the Florida Supreme Court.
Later a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
Inducted into the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame in 2017.
