About
Michael S. Regan, a native of Goldsboro, North Carolina, earned his B.S. in earth and environmental science at North Carolina A&T State University and an MPA from The George Washington University. On March 11, 2021, he was sworn in as the 16th Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency — the first Black man, and the first HBCU graduate, to lead the agency.
Accomplishments
16th Administrator of the U.S. EPA (confirmed 2021); first HBCU alumnus in that role.
Earlier EPA career under Clinton and Bush, then vice president for clean energy at the Environmental Defense Fund.
Inducted into the NBCA Hall of Fame in 2023 in Government and Law.
