Honorable Shirley Franklin

Shirley Franklin, a Howard University graduate, was the first woman and first Black woman elected mayor of Atlanta. She took office after the 2001 election and pushed ethics reform and infrastructure repair.

Mayor of Atlanta from 2002 to 2010.
First woman elected to that office.
Inducted into the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame in 2006.
