Honorable Calvin Smyre

Calvin Smyre, a Fort Valley State University graduate, served more than four decades in the Georgia House of Representatives and became a senior Democratic leader there. He later served as a university system regent.

Georgia state representative from 1975 to 2023.
Longtime House Democratic leader and later a University System of Georgia regent.
Inducted into the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame in 1990.
