Dr. Hattie Carwell

Hattie Carwell, a Bennett College graduate, is a health physicist who worked in nuclear and environmental science and later led efforts to expand STEM opportunities for Black students, including through the Museum of African Diaspora and related science programs.

Career health physicist in federal and laboratory settings.
Advocate for African American participation in STEM.
Inducted into the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame in 1991.
