Shirley Kinsey

Shirley Kinsey is a Florida A&M University graduate and, with her husband Bernard, one of the country’s best-known collectors of African American art, documents, and artifacts. Their Kinsey African American Art & History Collection has traveled widely and introduced millions of visitors to the Black experience from the sixteenth century to the present.

• Co-builder of the Kinsey Collection, seen by more than 16 million people worldwide.
• Co-founder of the Bernard and Shirley Kinsey Foundation for Arts and Education, which supports cultural institutions and underserved youth.
• Inducted into the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame in 2024 in Arts & Entertainment.
