About
Dr. Shelia K. Nash-Stevenson is a three-time Alabama A&M University magna cum laude graduate and NASA engineer-physicist at Marshall Space Flight Center. In 1994 she became the first African American woman in Alabama to earn a Ph.D. in physics.
Accomplishments
- First African American woman in Alabama to earn a physics doctorate; among the first AAMU physics Ph.D.s.
- NASA Marshall engineer and science-projects manager; patent holder for an optical-fiber holder.
- Mentors AAMU physics students. Inducted into the NBCA Hall of Fame in 2022 in Science.
