Dr. Myrna E. Alexander Nickens, a Tougaloo College chemistry graduate, is a professor of medicine and cardiologist at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She was the first woman to practice interventional cardiology in Mississippi.
Accomplishments
- M.D. from Meharry Medical College; cardiology and interventional training at Henry Ford Hospital.
- First female interventional cardiologist in Mississippi; focus on heart disease in women and prevention.
- Longtime Tougaloo alumna leader. Inducted into the NBCA Hall of Fame in 2022 in Medicine.
