Honorable Maynard Jackson

Maynard Jackson, a Morehouse College graduate, was Atlanta’s first Black mayor. He expanded Hartsfield Airport and required minority participation in city contracts, helping turn Atlanta into a center of Black political and business power.

• First African American mayor of Atlanta; served three terms.
• Oversaw major airport expansion and minority-business contracting rules.
• Inducted into the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame in 1987.
