About
Michael S. Regan, a native of Goldsboro, North Carolina, earned his B.S. in earth and environmental science at North Carolina A&T State University and an MPA from The George Washington University. On March 11, 2021, he was sworn in as the 16th Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency — the first Black man, and the first HBCU graduate, to lead the agency.
Accomplishments
- 16th Administrator of the U.S. EPA (confirmed 2021); first HBCU alumnus in that role.
- Earlier EPA career under Clinton and Bush, then vice president for clean energy at the Environmental Defense Fund.
- Inducted into the NBCA Hall of Fame in 2023 in Government and Law.
