Dr. Johnetta B. Cole

Johnnetta Betsch Cole, a Fisk University alumna, was the first African American woman to lead Spelman College. She later served as president of Bennett College and as director of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art.

• Seventh president of Spelman College.
• Director of the National Museum of African Art.
• Inducted into the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame in 2004.
