Geoffrey E. Foster

Geoffrey E. Foster is a manufacturing entrepreneur, patented engineer, and longtime faculty member at North Carolina A&T State University. Raised in Freehold, New Jersey, he played football for the Aggies and earned a B.S. in industrial technology in 1990 and an M.S. in applied engineering technology in 1996. He later completed an M.B.A. at Wake Forest University. Early jobs at Revlon, AMP/Tyco Electronics, and Becton Dickinson taught him high-speed production and plastics. At AMP he developed a sealed automotive electrical connector for Ford and received U.S. Patent 6,024,591. Ford and related brands have used more than 31 million of those parts.

In 2006 Foster and his wife, Tonya, founded Core Technology Molding Corporation in Greensboro. The ISO- and automotive-certified company supplies injection-molded parts for medical devices, automobiles, pharmaceuticals, and consumer goods, with clients that have included BMW, Merck, Husqvarna, and Rubbermaid. The firm has expanded its plant and clean-room capacity and has been named a Triad fast-growth company. Foster was Greensboro’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 2019 and an Ernst & Young Southeast Entrepreneur of the Year honoree in 2020. In 2026 he became chairman of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce.

For two decades he has taught as an adjunct professor in A&T’s Department of Applied Engineering Technology and advised the Society of Plastics Engineers. He serves on the University’s Board of Visitors, and Core Technology is a Guilford County Schools STEM partner. A&T gave him its Distinguished Alumni Award in 2017. He is a 2026 National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame inductee in Industry.

• Patented a sealed automotive connector now used by the millions. At AMP/Tyco Electronics, Foster developed a connector for Ford and received U.S. Patent 6,024,591. Ford, Lincoln, Jaguar, and Mercury brands have used more than 31 million of those parts.
• Founded Core Technology Molding Corporation. In 2006 he and his wife, Tonya, launched the Greensboro firm. • Grew a Triad manufacturer into a regional employer. The company has expanded plant and clean-room capacity and has been named a Triad fast-growth firm. Foster was Greensboro’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 2019 and an Ernst & Young Southeast Entrepreneur of the Year honoree in 2020.
• Taught a generation of A&T engineers. For about 20 years he has been an adjunct professor in the Department of Applied Engineering Technology and an advisor to the Society of Plastics Engineers. He earned a B.S. in industrial technology in 1990, an M.S. in applied engineering technology in 1996, and an M.B.A. from Wake Forest in 2001.
• Serves A&T and Greensboro at the board table. He sits on the University’s Board of Visitors, received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2017, partners with Guilford County Schools on STEM, and became chairman of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce in 2026.
