Mr. Dortch Jr., has been the epitome of a True Wildcat since his matriculation from Fort Valley State University in 1972. Striving to make HBCUs a better place for African American scholars, as well as making Georgia a better place to live, learn, and love.

Mr. Dortch Jr., it was an honor to be in the presence of a trailblazer, icon, and a giant in our community.

On behalf of the Mayor of the City of Fort Valley, we hereby proclaim December 6th, 2022, as Thomas W. Dortch Jr. Day in Fort Valley.
